The growing audience interest in seeing unbiased news and analysis of movies,performing arts,fashion trends ,theatre has led to the launch of Amrita TV's "Showtime News" . The 30-minute Malayalam programme which is being aired from June 24 will be telecast every Sunday at 11 am
The unique feature of "Showtime News" will be "Audience Choice," comprising four interactive segments for determining --"Movie of the Week","Star of the Week","Song of the Week" and "Scene of the Week" .Based on the Vox Populi concept,viewers will be urged to nominate their favourites in each of these segments via sms-web poll ; and the most popular nominations will be played in the programme .When each item is being played there will be snippets and information nuggets culled through research which will complement as scrolls and clips.
Far from being a movie-centric show, the programme will have the channel's team of reporters filing stories on happenings and events in the field of dance,drama,folk arts, musical shows,fine arts et al .The segment "Celebrity Choice", will have bytes from an accomplished person from any of these fields who will share personal favourites by way of books,hobbies,movies,wardrobe,icon and works of art .At times musicians,artists ,directors,lyricists,or performers visiting Kerala will be interviewed and their choice of song will be telecast
While the segment, "Chitrashala" will feature the week's art exhibitions, painting galleries and sculpture shows, "Thiruvarangu" will provide a bird's eyeview of performing arts staged in the State, and "Lifestyle" will take a peek at emerging trends in fashions,wardrobes,make-up and lifestyle trends .
To encourage appreciation of films, an invited critic will rate the Top 5 movies released in Kerala which will include Malayalam,Tamil,Hindi and even English
"Showtime News" will be hosted by news anchors of Amrita TV who have been specially groomed for this entertaining ,glitzy, topical programme-- which will showcase a wide canvas of happenings in an engaging format, suited for Sunday viewing
